SALT LAKE CITY – June 16, 2009 – The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has recently awarded Staker Parson Companies six new projects, the bulk of which will provide surface improvements to areas of I-15. Each project will consist of rotomilling the existing asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt in order to improve the road surfaces along I-15 and US-6 near Spanish Fork. The projects are slated for completion in Fall 2009.
The UDOT surface improvement projects include I-15, SR-75 Provo River Bituminous Pavement Rehab; US-6, Mile Post (MP) 173.4 to 177.5; I-15, MP 253.28 to 257.23, and SR-92 from SR- 74 to SR-146.
Other projects recently awarded to Staker Parson include the US-6; MP 218.7 to Emma Park Road project and the US-189, University Parkway to Provo Canyon project. Valued at $3.6 million, the US-6 project will provide a new five-lane roadway section in Spanish Fork Canyon. Staker Parson will place nearly 40,000 tons of asphalt. The US-189 project will provide surface improvements and add a lane at Canyon Road. Staker Parson will place 2,800 tons of aggregates and 13,000 tons of asphalt. Both projects will also be completed by fall 2009.
“We’re excited to be involved in these major projects,” said Scott Parson, president and CEO of Staker Parson Companies. “The repair and improvements to these roads will help make Utah’s roads safer for travelers and will help local economies.”
All projects will involve close partnering with UDOT, including a preconstruction meeting and weekly onsite meetings to resolve any issues that may arise. There will also be monthly partnering meetings where local residents can voice their opinions or concerns.
