Staker Parson Recognized with 2009 Lab of the Year Award

May 17th, 2010

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah-- The Utah Department of Transportation recognized Staker Parson’s Beck Street asphalt lab with the prestigious 2009 Contractor Lab of the Year award at the annual Utah Asphalt Conference held on March 31st at the South Town Convention Center in Salt Lake City. This is the second year in a row that a Staker Parson lab has won the award.

The Contractor Lab of the Year award is based on the company’s performance in three categories:  proficiency samples, quality manual and independent assurance. The proficiency samples consist of aggregate, asphalt and soil testing. Tests are performed on the material throughout the year and results are submitted and compared with other accredited testing labs across the country. The quality manual keeps records of current policies and calibration for equipment. Independent assurance is judged based on how the technician’s results compare with technicians from other companies.

Special thanks to the people responsible for the Beck Street Quality Control program:

Jeff Warren, Asphalt Plant Manager

Jeff Collard, Quality Control Manager/Asphalt

Jim Woodard, Field Technician Supervisor
