Staker Parson Companies Honored Among Utah’s Best

OGDEN, Utah--The Utah Best of State Organization recently announced that Staker Parson Companies has been selected as the 2010 Best of State Medal Winner in the Manufacturing-Mineral Mining/Stone Quarrying. 2010 marks the seventh year that Staker Parson Companies has won the award. Staker Parson will be presented with the award at the annual Awards Gala to be held on Saturday, May 29th in the Grand Ballroom of the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City.

Staker Parson Recognized with 2009 Lab of the Year Award May 17th, 2010
The Utah Department of Transportation recognized Staker Parson’s Beck Street asphalt lab with the prestigious 2009 Contractor Lab of the Year award at the annual Utah Asphalt Conference held on March 31st at the South Town Convention Center in Salt Lake City. This is the second year in a row that a Staker Parson lab has won the award.
American Concrete Institute Presents Jack B. Parson Companies with 7 Excellence in Concrete Awards April 12th, 2010
The Intermountain Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) recently recognized fifteen different projects throughout the state of Utah with Excellence in Concrete Awards. Jack B. Parson Companies (JBP) was chosen as the ready-mixed concrete supplier for nearly half of the award-winning projects, more than any other concrete supplier.
Full Depth Reclamation Using Portland Cement Helps to Ease Budget Crunch January 28th, 2010
When faced with the reconstruction of 300 South from 700 East to 900 East in Spanish Fork City, Utah, engineers sought a more cost-effective option. The city estimated a cost of $155,000, but by specifying the use of portland cement as a stabilizer for the reclamation project, the city realized a savings of over 21 percent.
ACPA and UDOT Present Staker Parson with Multiple Excellence in Paving Awards January 22nd, 2010
The American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) and Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) presented Staker Parson Companies with four “Excellence in Paving” awards for outstanding concrete paving projects completed in 2009. The awards ceremony was held at the Ninth Annual Concrete Pavement Workshop at Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City on January 20. The project owner, design engineer and ready-mix supplier were recognized at the conference for the winning projects.

Firms Are Buying Wind Energy August 20th, 2009
PARK CITY, UT -- The CEO for one of Utah's largest producers of rock products says wind energy has helped the firm operate its cement plant in the Snyderville Basin for more than a year. "We're a mining company at our heart and we're impacting the roads we travel on with traffic and everything else," said Scott Parson, president and CEO for Staker Parson Companies. "Businesses that are impacting the environment, it's especially important for those types of businesses to be sustainable."
Staker Parson Receives Two Industrial Safety Awards from Utah Trucking Association August 18th, 2009
Staker Parson Companies, a leading Utah producer of sand, gravel, and concrete, recently received two first place awards for industrial safety from the Utah Trucking Association. To qualify for the award, companies must achieve a lost time incident rate (LTI) below the 1.00 average for the state of Utah. Staker Parson was recognized for its 2008 efforts which included an LTI rating of 0.76 in its sand and gravel division and an LTI of 0.31 in its ready mix concrete division. Both divisions incurred only one lost-day incident.
Staker Parson Companies Awarded Six UDOT Projects June 16th, 2009
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has recently awarded Staker Parson Companies six new projects, the bulk of which will provide surface improvements to areas of I-15. Each project will consist of rotomilling the existing asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt in order to improve the road surfaces along I-15 and US-6 near Spanish Fork. The projects are slated for completion in Fall 2009.
