Staker Parson Companies Named Utah’s “Best of the Best” in Production & Manufacturing

Ogden, UTAH The Utah Best of State organization honored several outstanding individuals and businesses at its awards gala held May 22 at the Salt Palace Convention Center. Among those honored was Staker Parson Companies, the Intermountain Region’s leading supplier of sand, rock, landscape products, ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, paving and construction services. Staker Parson Companies was recognized as Best in State for manufacturing-mineral mining/stone quarrying.  The company also received the “Best of the Best”  trophy in the production & manufacturing division.

In a letter addressed to the Best of State judges, Scott Parson, Staker Parson CEO, said, “Utah’s construction economy has been seriously repressed for the past several years; however, we have succeeded in growing our volumes and working towards the achievement of our business purpose which is to safely build The Preferred Source for our customers, employees, shareholders and neighbors.”

Among Staker Parson’s 2011 achievements are the following:

  • Safeguarding employees and the public through extensive training and engagement programs
  • Helping construct many of Utah’s most notable projects including the Adobe Systems campus in Lehi, I-15 CORE in Utah county, City Creek Center in Salt Lake, the Utah Museum of Natural History in Salt Lake and the Utah Data Center at Camp Williams
  • Educating thousands of fourth graders through Rocks Build Our World, an educational outreach program teaching students about aggregates and mining
  • Improving sustainability of companies’ properties among sites
  • Increasing use of recycled products

“The success of our company is the result of thousands of great employees working to exceed the expectations of our many customers,” Parson said.  “It is very gratifying to work in the construction industry and we are honored to literally help build the foundations of Utah’s strong economy.  This year marks the 60th anniversary since my grandfather founded our business. I know he would be pleased with our growth and progress.”

The goal of the Best of State program is to inspire excellence in Utah. According to its website, the Best of the Best statue is awarded to the most outstanding medal winner in each division.
