Our Approach to Sustainability
The foundation of our views on sustainability is based on our values as a company and how we can show lasting benefits for the owners of our company as well as the communities in which we operate. Our responsibilities and experience have told us that we must work in a way that delivers real and lasting positive effects on our operations, employees, and the environment.
Environmental stewardship is at the heart of the Staker Parson Materials & Construction business model. Wherever possible, we strive to prevent, or otherwise minimize, mitigate, or remediate any potentially harmful effects of our operations on the environment. This practice creates and sustains our business value and reputation.
We use compliance to environmental regulations as a guideline and seek to go above regulatory compliance by self-imposing environmental targets to drive continual improvement. Through our commitment, actions, and community interactions, we strive to be a leader in environmental performance by demonstrating good management of natural resources, looking for opportunities to responsibly reduce our environmental footprint and exceed community expectations for environmental social governance.
Operating as a Sustainable Company also requires us to do so in a way that preserves the profitability of our own business, not only so we can meet our commitments to our shareholders, but so that we can continue to invest in areas important to our other stakeholders, including safety, climate change property mitigation and workforce training. These beliefs are the foundation of our views on sustainability.
