49 Loads of Snow Hauled for the 2nd Annual Winter Roundup

February 11, 2025

For the 2nd Annual Winter Roundup, Staker Parson Materials & Construction and Reynolds Excavation, Demolition & Utilities hauled in the snow needed for the skijoring course in downtown Salt Lake City.

Our crews worked Thursday night into early Friday morning (6 PM–5 AM), with eight trucks transporting 39 loads of snow from Solitude Mountain Resort to West Temple. With rain and winds threatening the course, organizers requested more snow on Friday while shaping the course. At 4 AM on Saturday morning, five trucks delivered an additional 10 loads, bringing the total to 49 loads of snow—surpassing last year’s haul of 34 loads.

Resembling the previous year’s course, the snow was shaped into a course including runs, jumps, and rings. The largest run of approximately 60 ft. allowed skiers and snowboarders to gain speed before hitting the “Big Jump” and getting some airtime. Following the end of the skijoring competition, the course was cleared and the public was invited onto the snow for a closing dance party.

The event, organized by Visit Salt Lake, drew over 15,000 attendees, and we’re proud to have played a role in making it a success. Huge thanks to our hardworking drivers for braving the cold to bring winter to downtown SLC!
