Utahraptor State Park

Nielson Construction is making significant contributions to the development of the new Utahraptor State Park, a stunning destination 13 miles north of Moab. Nestled near the iconic Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Utahraptor State Park is recognized not only for its striking red rock formations but more notably for the prehistoric remains hidden beneath its surface. The park will feature 82 paved campsites, two Highway Patrol living facilities, manager and staff housing, an entrance station building, and a network of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and ATV/OHV use.

Mountain View Corridor

The Mountain View Corridor project includes the construction of four new corridor miles and five miles of multi-use trails. Six vehicle bridges, five pedestrian bridges, eight box-structure bridges, and a multi-plate arch will serve the corridor. It is designed to not only enhance traffic flow but also provide safe pedestrian pathways and cycling trails.

I-15 SR-20 South Beaver Project

Western Rock Products recently completed the I-15, SR 20 to South Beaver, UT project! Work activities included placing over 71,000 tons of SMA asphalt on over 55 miles of roadway surface. This included resurfacing a northbound and southbound climbing lane. This project began in the Spring of 2023 and was completed in October 2023.

Fish Lake Doctor Creek Campground Project

Hales Sand and Gravel recently completed a reconstruction project on the Doctor Creek Campground in Fish Lake, UT. This project is an encampment located beside the beautiful Fish Lake and stands at an elevation of close to 9,000 feet. Work activities both began and were completed in September.

West Davis Corridor

The West Davis Corridor is a new 16-mile, 4-lane divided highway in Western Davis County between the I-15 and Legacy Parkway junction at Glovers Lane in Farmington. It provides additional transportation options, reduce traffic impacts, and provide connectivity throughout the region. This highway also includes freeway-style interchanges, over 10 miles of new trails and connections, and a future extension of S.R. 193 in West Point.

Harpers Corner

Burdick Materials was awarded the 2024 NAPA Quality in Construction and has been recognized as having the smoothest paving rating since the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration began keeping record of how smooth the highways are. The reconstruction of Harpers Road has reduced the footprint of the roadway which has minimized the environmental impacts, lowered maintenance costs, and preserved the surrounding natural habitat of the Dinosaur National Monument in Colorado.

Grantsville I-80 MP 50-60 Project

Staker Parson recently completed a rehabilitation project on I-80, from milepost 50 to 60, in Grantsville, UT. This project required 43 days for crews to remove the existing asphalt and place 47,000 tons of new SMA on the roadway surface. New lane striping and rumble strips were incorporated to enhance safety for travelers. Parking lot improvements were also made to two truck rest stops.

Lincoln County Airport Project

Hales Sand and Gravel recently completed work on an exciting project at the Lincoln County airport in Panaca City, Lincoln County, Nevada. Work activities for this project primarily included overlaying the Panaca Airport with 2 inches of FAA ½” asphalt. Hales Sand & Gravel bid on the project earlier this year to construct the runway using asphalt from Western Rocks’ Cedar City Hot Plant. Work on this project began near the end of August and, despite unique challenges faced, was successfully completed in September.

Weber State University Stewart Stadium East Seating Replacement Project

In May, the Jack B Parson Ready Mix Concrete team began an exciting new project on Stewart Stadium at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. This phase of the four-year project focuses on revamping the seating on the east side of the stadium by replacing and upgrading the east side bleachers to address sinking ground problems in the area and add stability to the structure for earthquake prevention. Jack B Parson provided 5,000 cubic yards of fiber-reinforced concrete for the project.

SR-24 Asphalt Rehabilitation & Shoulders Project

Nielson Construction & Materials completed a 32.5-mile-long improvement project on the scenic SR-24, the route designated as a National Scenic Byway and the primary access to Capitol Reef National Park. All improvements focused on increasing the safety score of the roadway. These improvements included widening and paving shoulders, extending drainage culverts, and flattening steep slopes to ensure safer passage.

US-6; MP 123 To Utah County Line

Staker Parson Materials & Construction completed a 40-mile-long preservation project on US-6 earlier this year. Improvements included 20 miles of highway rotomilling, placing HMA overlay and chip seal, and providing new pavement markings.
