On one of the most dangerous and busiest highways in the State of Utah, US-6, Staker Parson Materials & Construction was able to safely mill & overlay the highway stretch during the night hours from May to September 2020. Working within a 9-hour nightly mill and overlay shift, our traffic control, trucking, asphalt plant, and construction crews were successfully able to rotomill 4″ of existing asphalt and pave back 2.5″ of hot mix asphalt (HMA). Upon completing the HMA phase of 28,134 tons, we paved back 18,553 tons of Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) on 17 lane miles, with only two bumps to grind.
