Staker Parson and JBP Contribute to Fill the Pot Renovation Project
February 12, 2025
Located at 502 W Broadway in Salt Lake City, Fill the Pot Ministry recently underwent significant renovations thanks to the efforts of Staker Parson Materials and Construction, Jack B. Parson Ready Mix Concrete (JBP), and several key industry partners. The project, which took place from November 2024 to January 2025, aimed to enhance the facility’s functionality and create a more efficient space for serving the local homeless community.
“Everyone couldn’t wait to help. It shocked me how eager people were to jump on this and share their generosity,” Kevin Jolley, JBP Sales, said. “We came a long way and improved some essential features that should help our folk at the Fill the Pot Ministry operate more efficiently and continue serving our community.”
The renovation included much-needed improvements such as new lighting, fencing, driveways, windows, and a furnace to provide heat during the winter months. In addition to financial contributions, the project relied on donations of materials and labor from several major industry partners, making it a truly collaborative effort.
Contributions by Staker Parson and JBP:
- Kelly Morgan (Staker Parson) mobilized and removed pea gravel from the front of the building, cleared dirt from the side driveway, and hauled away old fencing and debris from the site.
- Derrick Pack & Kurt Severinsen (JBP) facilitated the donation of all concrete and coordinated resources.
- Kevin Jolley, Cody Parker, Jerry Grantham, Brady Epps, and Matt Ericson played key roles in organizing and executing various tasks to bring the project together.
Contributions by Industry Partners:
- Doug Archibald (Suntec Concrete): Leveled, formed, and poured JBP concrete for the front and side driveway.
- Derek Dorman (United Site Services): Provided a temporary outhouse for workers during the project.
- Marshall Emsley (American Fence Company): Delivered temporary fencing.
- Robert Brown (Mountain States Fence): Installed wrought iron fencing.
- Greg Godfrey (B & D Glass): Replaced broken windows with new glass.
- Eric Rose & Spencer Buhler (Cache Valley Electric): Installed new lighting.
- DB Mechanical: Installed a new furnace, funded by financial donors.
- Financial Donors: Jono Gardner, Andrew Soderquist, Brett Okland, Weston Woolsey, and Scott Parson.
Project Management and Coordination:
- Andrew Soderquist, Ben Hess & Carol Delgado (Big D Construction): Oversaw project management, cleanup, and coordination with subcontractors.
- Rylan Jolley (Eco Smart Builders): Assisted with drafting the plot plan and obtaining permits with Salt Lake City.
With an estimated donation value of $50,000, this project showcases the strength of collaboration and community support. Thanks to all contributing partners, Fill the Pot Ministry is now better equipped to continue its mission of serving those in need.
For those interested in continuing to support this cause, the Beck St. office is always accepting donations, including canned food items, clothing, blankets, and hygiene kits. Anyone is welcome to drop off donations in the bin located in the lobby and help make a difference in the community.
