Staker Parson Companies takes part in ALS Ice Bucket Challenge for a Good Cause

August 26, 2014

Staker Parson Companies received the challenge from a fan on Facebook. The great employees, along with the company president, decided to rally together for a great cause. Scott Parson, Staker Parson Companies President, stepped up to the challenge and, in turn, challenged the good employees of Staker Parson Companies to join in raising awareness for ALS. He offered up $10 (out of his pocket) per employee that participated in the challenge.

The challenge swept through the company quickly! Since August 19th, over 60 employees have either taken the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge or have donated money to the ALS Association to contribute their fair share. To date, the ALS Association has raised over $79 million dollars, which is up from last year’s total of $2.5 million. It is estimated that only 30 thousand Americans have ALS and approximately 5,600 people in the U.S. are diagnosed each year.

Staker Parson Employees decided to participate in an effort to raise awareness about ALS. It is a way to show support by feeling uncomfortable for a short period of time in order to show compassion for those suffering with ALS who feel pain and discomfort for the rest of their lives. “I can’t even begin to imagine how it must feel to be stricken with the disease,” said Scott Parson, “I can only offer support from our employees to those who are affected. I am proud to be a part of a company so full of compassionate employees and appreciate the fact that they were willing to donate their time and money to a great cause.”
